Mouthful O' Jam, March 3rd!

Mouthful O' jam is back after a hectic weekend that was EBI and wow what a weekend. Now back to normal and the fabulous mix of Swing, Jump, Hot Jazz, Rhythm and Blues and maybe some Blues too. Hot 78 spinners Tim Hellzapoppin', Kid Krupa and Swing Maniac will take you through your paces and maybe a special guest DJ this month too. Londons best known American Swing Instructoress will be teaching a class at 7:30pm then music all the way till 2am. £5 entry includes free lesson :-)

Our very own American Swing dance instructor Gaia Hannan will get you moving with her teaching skills in the hottest swing moves from 7.30 pm

ADAMO CIARALLO:
Adamo discovered the blues when he went to his first swing festival. He left the party at 7am when he realized he was falling asleep on his partner's shoulder. Ironically, when he got to bed he couldn't sleep, still excited from that amazing experience and looking forward to the next bluesy night. Adamo teaches at Blues In My Shoes in London and has taught/will teach in Ireland, Spain and France. He is recognized as one of the most original, intense and musical dancer of the UK dance scene and has recently competed and placed 1st at the Berlin Blues Explosion in the division Jack and Jill and 3rd in the Strictly Blues.

GAIA FACCHINI:
Has been dancing Lindy Hop for more than 15 years. She started dancing in Portland Oregon where her passion for the music, style and social scene bloomed. Gaia has since danced and taught all over the world and Co-runs Mouthful O' Jam a successful vintage inspired monthly club in London. She has built her dance repertoire to over the years and focuses heavily on Blues, Balboa, Charleston and other vintage dances.

Full course is £50 per person, £80 per couple

Bellow is an outline for what we will be covering in the sessions.
Please wear comfortable clothes and preferably leather soled shoes or dress shoes with a smooth sole, high heels are great if your comfortable wearing them :-).

Week one:
- The history of Lindy Hop and other social dances
- The language of Swing dancing
- Frame between lead and follow
- Movement exercises for trust building in dance
- Basic Lindy Hop steps for lead and follow

Week two:
- Basic Lindy Hop steps review
- Frame review
- Intro to Lindy basic

Week three:
- Basic "Lindy Turn"
- Intro to simple moves in the basic

Week four:
- Review of Lindy turn
- Review of move
- More basic moves
- Intro into transitions

Week five:
- Transitioning moves together
- Combining all moves and basic Lindy turn
- Musicality

Week six:
- Review of last five weeks
- Playing and improvising with Lindy hop

News

SO, here we go....
Good old Slippery P (Swing Maniac, Paul) has been working very hard to fix up a fantastic original radio gram, which will be placed in the bar area of the Salisbury for everyone to play with!!! It may not be ready for June 5th, but don't fret pet, We will have it for you soon and in the meantime keep your attention prepared for other goodies that might be lurking.

Last month the cake sale for charity that was put on by Anna and Toby went down very well (literally) and was extremely welcome addition to the night. We hope that they will come back again and provide us again with such a sweet corner.

The future is looking like a place we want to fill with all the elegant elements of the past and there are plans plans plans for Mouthful!!!!
Follow us to Bristol in August for a circus swing spectacular and maybe to outdoor bandstands across the country and maybe to festivals and events where it might get a little messy, but we are okay with that ;-)

We are looking forward to working with the succulent Angela Adore at Vintage Patisserie where the tea party is always in full swing.
