Hello all you wonderful dancers I thought it was about time for a good update on the happenings of the Vintage Dancing world. We have taken a hiatus due to the Football and the Olympics (unfortunately we were not able to use the room at the Salisbury for dance lessons during this time). And in a strangely timely fashion I have also injured my knee, I have a torn meniscus and torn ACL and I am now waiting for an operation due in November :-( This means I have not been able to dance in same energetic way I would like to, and no teaching. It has been very hard to cope with no dancing, I need my fix though, so you may still see me out there but going slowly and cautiously.. ! As we are all refreshed now the first of the month brings you Hot Jazz, Swing, Jump Blues and R'n'B and any other good dancing track we can bring you on 78 rpm records. This month we have special guest DJ Swinging Dickie (Phoenix club) as well as our usual regular Tim Hellzapoppin'. Myself (Swing Maniac) will bring you many a good hot dancing find from over my holiday as no matter where I go I look for hot records. We do have a dance lesson in September and as Gaia is away the fabulous Serena Rizzo will be taking her place so we look forward to this one. As usual the entry is kept at a recession busting £5, a quality evening for a small amount of dosh. As usual Mouthful O' Jam opens it's doors for our monthly event. We will be starting the evening with a free dance lesson from our American swing dance instructor Gaia Hannan. After the lesson it's dance dance dance till 2am. Hot 78's played on vintage equipment by the wonderful Tim Hellzapopin',the brilliant Kid Krupa and my little ole' self Swing Maniac. Mr. Andrew Fletcher will also be taking to the decks this month and the theme is American Swing from the 30's and 40's . The hottest jazz the jumpinest jump and the singingest swing to keep you hot hot hot footing it all evening. Held in the amazing original Salisbury pub the atmosphere is fabulous and just can't be beaten! From our wonderful social area to the great dance floor and if you smoke then dont forget the smoking porch at the front. Entrance just £5 all evening including dance lesson.

Mouthful O Jam have got together with Roger Greenawalt the famous Producer and musician and driving force behind the Beatles on Ukulele project. Roger is visiting London and we are having a special evening where people can bring along their Ukes and Jam with Roger. Battling Ukes will be the order of the day but if you play another instrument you are welcome to come along and play. Swing and Jazz on hot 78's played by Kid Krupa and Swing maniac at other times. The evening will be a relaxed night with dancing and jamming and Roger will be judging the competition for the best Ukulele player of the evening. We are planning on giving half the proceeds away to a charity of the winners choice. The event is taking place this Sunday evening from 6pm until Midnight so come along and join us . We have our fabulous Mouthful O' Jubilleeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Jam. As usual we have the wonderful Gaia Hannan teaching her free Swing lesson at the beginning of the evening. Shellac spinners Tim Hellzapoppin', Kid Kupa and Swing Maniac will keep you on your toes dancing to the very best 78 rpm recordings. We may have a band in which case it will be £7 if we don't then it'ss the usual £5 including lesson so hope to see you all there .

Beginners Lindy Hop dance course, NEW DATES!! 5 weeks, 8pm-9:30pm, starting Wednesday 25th of April 2012. Learn the partner dance that started them all in this intensive 5 week beginners class. We will focus on laying strong foundations in the language of Swing Dancing. Strengthen your style, your moves and your dance confidence. By the end of this class you'll have a solid grasp of Lindy Hop rhythm & musicality, connection, and a grab bag of moves that you can pull out on any dance floor. This dance will have you smiling, sweating, and wishing for more! Musicality and passion for the dance is my main focus in teaching. Limited spaces!
